Dr. David Michaels received his Doctor of Optometry degree from Southern California College of Optometry and his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa. In 1993 he founded Millard Family Eyecare as a private practice. Dr. Michaels specializes in prescribing custom contact lenses and co-management of refractive surgery. He is a member of the American Optometric Association, the Nebraska Optometric Association, and past recipient of the NOA's Young Optometrist of the Year Award. He has volunteered for several years with the Special Olympics Opening Eyes Program and is a member of the Vision USA Program. He and his wife, Angie, enjoy spending time with their children Nathan and Elizabeth. They are active in sports, scouting, and fishing.
Dr. Ellen Weiss earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Nebraska at Omaha and her Optometry degree from the University of Missouri - St. Louis School of Optometry. She joined Millard Family Eyecare as a partner in 1995. Dr. Weiss has a special interest and expertise in the areas of pediatrics, special needs, and vision therapy. She is a member of the American Optometric Association, president of the Heart of America Contact Lens Society, president of Nebraska VOSH, past-President of the Nebraska Optometric Association, and past-President of the Millard Lions Club. She participates in VOSH mission trips yearly, traveling to under-developed countries and providing free eye exams and glasses for their communities. Dr. Weiss also served for seven years as the coordinator for the Special Olympics Opening Eyes, where Special Olympics athletes are provided an eye exam and glasses if needed. She and her husband, Carl, have three children.
Dr. Desinee Drakulich, a native of Omaha,is a graduate of Millard South High School. She received her Bachelors of Science in Chemistry from the University of Nebraska at Omaha and continued her education at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Neuropharmacology. She earned her Optometric degree with honors from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia.. In 2007, she began practicing optometry at Millard Family Eyecare. Dr. Drakulich has special interests in disease treatment and specialty contact lens fitting. She is a member of the American Optometric Association, the Nebraska Optometric Association and the American Academy of Optometry. Dr. Drakulich is past-president of the Pennsylvania College of Optometry Lions Club, and is a current member of the Nebraska Optometric Association’s Board of Directors
